Residents of Bath, Odessa, and Amherst island continue to participate The Loyalist Link pilot transit program that officially launched on November 4, 2024. This pilot program aims to improve transportation options for residents of Bath, Odessa, and the Amherst Island Ferry Terminal in Millhaven. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance access to key areas, including local workplaces and neighboring communities.

The new transit service is offering a connection to employment hubs such as the Taylor-Kidd Industrial Park and the Loyalist East Business Park. For many residents, this service will provide an essential transportation link to the area’s job centers, increasing mobility and accessibility.

The pilot project is set to run through December 31, 2025. It has been made possible by a $192,000 Community Transportation Grant from the Province’s Community Connection Funding, provided through Lennox and Addington County, along with Provincial Gas Tax funding.

One of the notable features of the Loyalist Link service is its affordability. Riders can use Kingston Transit fares, which makes the service an accessible option for those who rely on public transportation for their daily commute.

With this pilot program in place, officials hope to address long-standing transportation gaps in these rural communities. If successful, the program could potentially expand or become a permanent service.
